The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved $68 million for New Yorkers so far who were hit hard by tropical storms Irene and Lee.
FEMA says more than 34,000 upstate New Yorkers have registered for aid so far, which comes in grants and loans.
FEMA is also granting an extension for registering so that people put out of work because of Irene can apply for disaster unemployment aid.
So far almost $8 million has been approved for Schoharie County, one of the hardest hit areas.
