HaRav HaChossid R’ Velvel Eisenbach ZATZAL was niftar on Friday, the second day of Rosh Hashanah, at the age of 102. He was among the veteran members of the neitz minyan at the Kosel over the past decades, and regularly had hagba’a on Mondays and Thursdays.
R’ Velvel was known for his modesty and he was one who did not want any fanfare surrounding his life, or his many good deeds and acts of chessed. He learned daf yomi from the day it was instituted by Rabbi Meir Shapira of Lublin ZATZAL, less than a year away from completing the 12th cycle.
R’ Velvel conducted himself respectfully, and exhibited a derech eretz for all who crossed his path. He always has a kind word for those who approached him, epitomizing the old Yerushalmim.
His levaya was held on erev Shabbos, second day Rosh Hashanah and a small tzibur was on hand, dressed in yomtov garb, escorting R’ Velvel to his final menucha. R’ Velvel is survived by over 1,200 descendants! Five of his sons were niftar during his lifetime.
He was buried in the Chelkas Chassidim in Har Tamir.
