New Gaffe: Obama Confuses Jews With Janitors

President Obama spoke to the Congressional Black Caucus awards banquet over the weekend.

His 28 minutes of remarks had a strange tone to them, as if somehow Obama was equating support for his jobs program legislation with the far more important and historic civil rights movement.

Deep into the speech, according to the White House transcript, the president said:

When you start saying, at a time when the top one-tenth of 1 percent has seen their incomes go up four or five times over the last 20 years, and folks at the bottom have seen their incomes decline—and your response is that you want poor folks to pay more?

Give me a break.

If asking a billionaire to pay the same tax rate as a janitor makes me a warrior for the working class, I wear that with a badge of honor. I have no problem with that.

That’s what the transcript says he said.

But here is what the president actually said, catching himself almost in time but not quite:

If asking a billionaire to pay the same tax rate as a Jew, uh, as a janitor makes me a warrior for the working class, I wear that with a badge of honor. I have no problem with that.

The president has been muffing lines all over the place recently. Last week, also peddling his jobs plan at a bridge that won’t qualify, he hailed America’s building of “the Intercontinental Railroad.” You don’t seem to hear much about these gaffes in the media for some reason.

Maybe in Saturday night’s speech Obama was thinking about all those talks on Israel in New York.

  1. Obviously he equates Jew and janitor. That’s how his baring is wired after 20 years of Reverend Wright. Its insane that any Jew can vote for him he HATES us and looks down on us. He probably thinks we are worse than janitors. Important glad this freudian slip came out. We shouldn’t fool ourselves into thinking this man is not our enemy. He very much is.

  2. WAKE UP YIDDEN (AND AMERICA)!!!! People don’t just have “slips” of speech .As the (jewish) psychologist freund showed: everything someone says is what they actually MEAN even if they take it back toch kdei dibbur– thats why they call it “a freundian slip”!
This man wants all jews in the US GONE and has made it clear numerous times before! I dont know where he expects all the yidden in america to go after he kicks them out if while at the same time hes doing this hes also trying to bring all the arabs in to eretz yiroel and to go totally against the israeli prime minister and set up an arab state even though NOBODY in eretz yisroel want it!!! except the arabs!!!

  3. If this were true it would have been all over the press…mms601’s suggestion is far more plausible.

I recently told my daughter that I would agree to stop calling her 18 month son a nikname she thinks is off, with the joking proviso that the first time I hear him using “schvartze” in a derogatory way, all bets are off. She, who would never use the word herself, objected…it’s “unfair” she said because “he’s going to pick it up in yeshiva.”

I rest my case as to where lies the problem of intolerance

  4. YonasonW: We have a mesorah for using the term schvartza and there is nothing wrong with it– it doesn’t mean “the N word” its just yiddish for “african american”. Do you think people with the last name Schwartz are derogotoring their name?

  5. Menachem Trolowitz – You must think I was born yesterday…I know a deragatory use of “schvartze” or “Goyte” – or any other appellation – when I hear it…and so do you. Or, maybe the next time I hear Yid said with a sneer I’ll quote your defense.

  6. Poor YonasonW is a liberal jew. That means he is of the religion of liberalism first followed by Judaism. That means that nebach he has a serious problem in the fact that he can’t think like a normal sane yid because he is a liberal first. Oh well.
