Abbas Says No To Jewish State

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said Friday he is adamant about not recognizing Israel as the Jewish state.

“They talk to us about the Jewish state, but I respond to them with a final answer: We shall not recognize a Jewish state,” Abbas said in a meeting with some 200 senior representatives of the Palestinians community in the US, shortly before taking the podium and delivering a speech at the United Nations General Assembly.

The Palestinian leader, who appeared fatigued, shared with his audience the global pressures exerted on him in an effort to prevent him from presenting the PA’s statehood bid at the Security Council.

“We are withstanding these pressures, and I’m telling you that I am going to the Security Council and will never change my mind, regardless of the pressure,” he said.

  1. Wow! Finally the Palestinian leader makes it clear to the world that they will not recognize Israel. We always knew this truth but the world & the Israeli Leaders hoped for recognition.
It is clear that there is no place for negotiations of any peace because they do not want peace. They want land and they want to rid the world of Jews. We jnow that this will never happen.
We must continue to rely on hashem for His constant protection and daven for Moshiach as we say in Alaynu, the day will come when the world will recognize Hashem as King of the world, etc.
A happy new year year to all.

  2. All the fools (Obamanation included)who really believed in the “two state solution”, now should realize that can never be. It is THE SAME problem that caused Clinton grief when Israel was ready to give EVERYTHING away and Arafat just walked away.

  3. WE must take a lesson from him!

HE is strong enough in HIS (warped) beliefs to say out b’fairush, proudly and with no hesitation, ‘WE demand a ‘palestine’ state, AND, we do not recognize a Jewish State.’

Do we have a Jewish leader that will stand before the world and proudly declare ‘Eretz Yisrael is the Jewish State, and we will not recognize any ‘palestine’ state on any part our Holy Land!’?

We DO, – but he has not yet announced himself to make this declaration.

  4. I agree with fellowjew2…just give these people enough room and they hang themseves…

What Isreal and its friends need to do now is hammer home this statement of Abbas over and over…and over again…so that it becomes common knowledge that they want a Palestinian State…but won’t recognize a Jewish one.

  5. Of course he cannot acknowledge a Jewish State, that would automatically void all claims to any land at all. Islam accepts the so called old testament/ Torah and the new testament as well. As we all know it clearly says G-d gave the land to Avraham, Yitchok and Israel

  6. The question now is…

How can the U.S. or the UN or the E.U. possibly reasonably expect Israeli leaders to even sit down to talk with, much less make concessions to the leader of group of savages who has explicitly stated “We shall not recognize a Jewish state”???

  7. The problem, of course, is that Israel is NOT a Jewish state. It is a, allegedly at least, a democracy. That makes it a state of it’s citizens, even if the majority are Jewish, regardless of their religion or ethnicity. For example, the percentage of Americans that are white is roughly the same as the percent of Israelis are Jewish: does that make the US officially a “white” state?

Then of course is the question of who is a Jew and should therefore be a citizen. Reform and conservative converts? Reform “patrilineal Jews?” A Jew who, c”v, converts to another religion? Someone with a stamp from a government (like the former Soviet Union) that says you’re a Jew? All of those are granted AUTOMATIC Israeli citizenship.

How about when Israel grants citizenship to the gentile spouses and children (and grandchildren) of Jews? Does citizenship for Tanya from Kiev, who married Uri (who has one Jewish grandfather), not to mention her gentile children, make Israel a “Jewish” state?

    I don’t think so.

The simple fact is that Israel’s own policies have undermined it’s claim to be a “Jewish” state

  8. Round them all up in the territoris and settle them in the souadi dessert or iraq iran syria jordan or egypt.
Rav Meir Kahana was ahead of his time. Hashem gave him an understanding that most lack.

That said we all have to do very serious teshuvah Hashem has been setting the stage for mashiach for a long time, and we should be ready for the BIG day.
Since the early 80’s tahings have not been so hostile with so many of Israel’s neighbors. Egypt and Turkey 2 benighn countries are making noise, Jordan is making noise. Hezbal in Syria never stopped. And then we have that nut in Iran.
THERE is a reason Abbas spoke on this friday as we go into slichos and the aseres yimei teshuvah.
Unfortunitly reshuim have pushed us to tphila and teshuva in the past more then many tochachas.
Let’s all wake up. And do what we have to, so Mashiach can be here and the nations will all join us as we crown Hashem Melech al kol haolam next week on Rosh Hashana!

  9. ahavas_yisroel, your wish is my wish. You make most sense. May Abbbas and all the rest of his goons, thugs and monsters hae a misa mishuna!
    Amen, kein yehi ratzon!

  10. Recognizing Israel as a permanent Jewish state would be considered heresey under Islamic law. If Israel wants peace with the Muslims, they’ll have to work around the prohibition of recognizing non-Muslim sovereignity over historically Islamic lands, perhaps by giving up some of the trappings of sovereignity while retaining the economic and military substance, e.g. no Israeli at the Miss Universe contest, but keeping Jewish control over nuclear-armed submarines even if they have to have a Palestinian flag on the submarine.

Of course, the alternative is a permanent state of war that will continually drain our resources, and probably, come to an unhappy conclusion (most wars do, especially long ones against vastly richer and more numerous enemies).

  11. to #15: Exactly what did I say that is ridiculous? Everything that I cited above is true.

    1) Being Jewish is NOT required for citizenship in Israel. In fact, about 30% of Israeli citizens are non-Jews, primarily Arab, be they Muslim, Xtian or Druze, who have the full rights of citiznship including the right to vote.

    2) If someone converts to reform or conservative (or reconstructionist as well) outside Israel, they ARE granted automatic citizenship if they make aliyah, The same applies for reform “patrilineal Jews” or anyone with a government document that labels them “Jews.” Jews who have become xtians and then emigrate to Israel — where they are granted citizenship — to missionize IS a serious problem. Just ask Yad L’Achim. In fact, and we can debate the wisdom of this, but the FACT is that Israel adopted the “if your Jewish enough for the Nazis to kill, you’re Jewish enough for Israel” approach to immigration. Thus, as a matter of state policy and law, if you have just one Jewish grandparent you qualify for aliyah and citizenship.

    3) According to estimates by the OU, 60% OR MORE of the Russian oilim are non-Jews: either because they meet the “Jewish enough for the Nazis” rule or because they are married to a Jew or someone who meets the above rule or, in many cases, they bought papers stating they were Jews just so they could get out of Russia. Why do you think the government has arranged these quickie IDF conversions??? Duh! Because they are GOYIM!!! Why do you think the reform and conservatives are pushing for a law that will allow them to perform conversions INSIDE Israel??? Wake up!!!

And I haven’t even touched on the disputed halachic “status” of the Ethiopeans and karaim… not to mention the sizable non-citizen population of foriegn workers and the so-called “Hebrew Israelites” (aka “Black Hebrews”) of Dimona who have been given permanent status.

Everything I have stated is FACT. Are any of these people I have listed Jewish? And if not, then how is Israel a “Jewish” state? And if Tanya from Kiev who is as Jewish as a ham and swiss sandwhich can live in Israel (and be a citizen) then why can’t Ahmed from Ramallah whose grandparents actually lived in what is now Israel?

Don’t you get it? While Israel likes to CALL itself a Jewish state, it’s own policies have undermined this claim to the point of making it a joke. Why should anyone — let alone Israel’s enemies — therefore acknowledge this claim?

  12. #18, you are as wrong as wrong could be. we are not talking about what’s right al pi Torah. we are talking about recognition of Israel as a Jewish state bt Goyishe standards becuase it is populated by ethnic Jews!
