MK (Yahadut HaTorah) Yisrael Eichler is questioning why there are no audible condemnations following an arson attack against a Jerusalem shul.
“We cannot accept those who incite against the chareidi tzibur, words that lead to such acts” added Eichler, questioning the silence of the tzibur, elected officials and the media alike.
Eichler pointed a finger of blame against the Kadima opposition party which regularly incites against the entire chareidi tzibur, as if the chareidim are responsible for all that is wrong with the state.
“There is no Israeli chevra” he lamented, pointing out “we are just a compilation of individual sectors; There are the wealthy, the Ashkenazim, the Sephardim, the city dwellers, chareidim, the frum, and then each sector has its sub-sectors. If we reach a point that we disqualify other sectors then the battle will be waged in the streets. We have already heard from some journalists that the protests have failed since there cannot be a protest without bloodshed.
“Those who disqualify political parties which represent sectors in Knesset will find themselves battling it out in the streets. This is the last thing that we need. In Libya there is a war of sectors. In Syria, the sector war is taking its toll as is the case in Egypt. While the State of Israel is also comprised of sectors, we must live in this country; Jews and Arabs, Ashkenazim and Sephardim, chareidim and secularists, and all must enjoy basic rights for if not, at the end, there will not be rights for any sector”.
