Rav Avraham Elkana HaKohen Shapira, the head of the Merkaz HaRav Kook Yeshiva and a former Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel, passed away on the first day of Sukkos at the age of 94. The Levaya was attended by tens of thousands, and took place at 10:30AM on Friday morning at the Merkaz HaRav Kook Yeshiva in Yerushalayim. The Kevura took place on Har Hazeisim.
