Soldiers in the Lachish training base took part in simulated situations mimicking tunnel combat with terrorists. This new reality is based on ongoing credible terror warnings that terrorists are working in earnest to abduct IDF soldiers operating in the Gaza area via the vast tunnel network infrastructure that exists today.

The tunnels have become an integral part of life in Hamastine, used to smuggle weapons and ammunition into Gaza via Egypt, as well as supporting the increasingly profitable black market, a reality in the Gaza economic infrastructure.
