According to police investigators, what was first believed to be a hit a run on Jerusalem’s Yirmiyahu Street on Monday was quite another matter.

An Arab male in his 20s, a resident of the eastern capital, tried to steal the woman’s purse. When she resisted, he got into the vehicle and drove off, striking her as he fled the scene and hitting a number of cars. The woman in her 30s was reported in serious condition on Monday night. The perpetrator was apprehended by police following a pursuit. Two people were injured as a result of that pursuit.

The women, who sustained a serious head injury, was transported by paramedics to the trauma unit of Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. She remains in critical condition.
