PA’s Longtime Friend Carter Supports Palestinian State

Longtime friend and supporter of the PA (Palestinian Authority), former US President Jimmy Carter has come out to express his support for a declaration of Palestinian independence. He feels that the unilateral move planned for the upcoming United Nations General Assembly is preferable to the frozen political process that exists. Regarding Israeli-Egyptian relations, Carter, whose administration spearheaded the Camp David Accord stated he does not feel that the long-standing peace agreement is in jeopardy.

Carter accuses Israel of failing to withdraw from the “occupied areas”, namely, Yehuda and Shomron. Regarding America’s threat to veto a unilateral PA declaration of statehood, Carter explained that if the current administration had a comprehensive plan as an alternative he would not support the unilateral PA move but in light of the options, stalled negotiations, he feels the move is indeed justified. The former president adds the move will represent significant progress for the PA since even if the United Nations recognizes Palestine but the new state does not receive membership to the international forum.

  1. I think there’s a very cushy, comfy seat waiting for him in a place called “Gehinom”. HAMAS (Handy App Mapping Assist System) will get him there quickly on the first non-stop trip.
