Well, that is why you have to be careful.
I read a story about someone who put a camera in her house while a babysitter was there…and from there she found out the babysitter just drugged up the kids and did nothing and almost killed them…
I personally think the best way to hire someone is to:
A) Either get a recommendation, AND ask for refrences. Or just do yourself a favor and use someone you know either relative, family friend, or neighbor (you can’t hide much from neighbors when you have cardboard as a wall)
B) Make sure you know her parents, and her school. If something DOES happen, you can be sure she will get in a lot of trouble or even kicked out…
C) Always keep in mind you can trust no one fully except Hashem, always look out for red flags…and maybe hide a camera somewhere if you a really scared.
But obviously, anything in life can go wrong, anyone can betray you, not just a babysitter. If you have checked and referenced her, that is all you can do.
It’s like a shidduch, you can look, and dig, and try.
But in the end, keep in mind it’s all up to Hahsem
I believe nothing more needs to be said over THAT article and veiw on babysitting, everything in life involves risks, you can either take them or not. Even eating (you could choke) and sleeping (you could fall, sleepwalk, sleep choke).
