Speaking with Israel Radio’s Yaron Dekel on Tuesday morning, Pinchas Wallerstein, a veteran settlement official and founder of Migron, explained the despite recent extremely painful events, one must not defy direct orders in the IDF, under any circumstances.

Wallerstein added that even making the assumption the destruction of homes in Migron was morally acceptable, Jews mustn’t defy orders and they must not take part in operations like the Price Tag, indiscriminately striking out at others. He feels that this is not only wrong, but it represents a tactical error in judgment, as is defying orders, for this leads to breaking down the national defense force from the inside out.

He adds the actions of the government must not be forgotten or forgiven, but there are things that may be done while other responses remain in the realm of the forbidden.
