Police believe that right-wing activists are behind a vandalism attack against a mosque in the Shomron district, part of the “Price Tag” retribution campaign associated with a small number of residents of Yehuda and Shomron. The two-story mosque targeted in the attack is located in or near the village of Luban el-Sharqiya.
Local Arab officials reported that “settlers” set a mosque in Kusra ablaze as well as writing “Mohammad is a Pig” and “Migron – Social Justice” on the structure. According to reports, windows were smashed and a flammable liquid was poured in, and burning tires were then tossed inside. The damage however appears to be in a basement, not the mosque itself.
The PA (Palestinian Authority) Maan News Agency reported early Monday morning that residents of the Shomron community of Yitzhar hurled rocks at Arab motorists traveling on the Chawarah-Shechem Road. No injuries were reported.
Shai (Shomron-Yehuda) police report that building is vacant, not a mosque that is being used and as such, there were no religious books inside.
