I’m not sure I understand your question, but if you’re solely looking at marriage from the perspective of avodas Hashem, you should still recognize that it serves that function only as much as it’s a properly functioning, “fulfilling” marriage.
Mostly, though, we’re human beings, and despite our idealism, we have real emotional needs, such as to feel appreciated and cherished.
