Eric Rodriquez, Commanding Officer of the NYPD’s 70 Precinct, tells YWN the following:
We would like to take a moment to update you. As of now there has been no reported power outages in the area or any major damage to homes. However there are many trees down that are blocking streets in the area. It is being reported that the rain is going to slow down however there is still going to be wind gusts continuing throughout the day. We are asking everyone to please stay off the streets for today so we can have city services begin the clean up of these streets. I also want to remind all of you that the storm is not over and the winds will begin to gust from the opposite direction causing more trees and branches to fall. With the wet ground and weakened trees the conditions on the street remain dangerous. Finally we want to thank everyone for your understanding and compliance to our requests over the last few days.
With your help we were able to prepare the community for this dangerous hurricane. Once again, in an effort to enhance our outreach for important matters we urge you to forward this email to others in the community and encourage them to sign up to this E-Mail system with the 70 Precinct Community Affairs Officers in the future.
