The number of customers without power climbed to 412,735 customers by 4 a.m. this morning and power company officials say restoring power may take several days.
“Customers should be prepared for potentially lengthy outages. Crews will begin to restore service once the heavy winds subside and it is safe to work on overhead electric lines,” Karen Johnson, spokeswoman for PSE&G, said in an email update at 4 a.m. this morning.

• PSE&G: 166,000
• JCP&L: 143,000
More power outages may be in store as forecasters predict maximum sustained winds between 40 to 50 mph with gusts up to 70 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
