Take a look out the window – though perhaps don’t get too close. The rain has come to New York City.
Meteorologists at the National Weather Service say that the winds are expected to pick up in New York City at around 9 p.m. – which is to say, now – and by about midnight, they should be strong enough to take down trees and power lines. Winds are expected to be at their worst between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. The city and nearby counties are under tornado watch until 5 a.m.
According to the Capital Weather Gang blog on the Washington Post Web site, D.C. is likely in the “worst stretch” of the storm, which was expected to hit between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m.
