Security Personnel Remove Israel Flag In Cairo

With the military government in control and the anti-Israel sentiment becoming increasingly visible, Egyptian security officials stationed outside the home of Israel Ambassador to Cairo Yitzchak Levanon complied with shouts from angry protestors, removing the Israeli flag from outside the ambassador’s home. Earlier in the week, a flag atop of the Cairo Embassy complex was removed by angry anti-Israeli protestors.

According to local Egyptian media reports, the removal of the flag “led to merriment among the dozens of protestors on hand”.

Protestors explained the removal of the flag was more than symbolic, but intended to send a message to Jerusalem, that the ambassador should get out since Egypt no longer wishes to maintain diplomatic relations with Israel.

Israeli diplomatic officials and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are carefully monitoring the situation in Egypt following the ousting of longtime ally President Hosni Mubarak.

In a related matter, Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Kamil Amr stated that an Israeli report that Cairo is contemplating recalling its ambassador to Israel is untrue, the New York Times reported. Egypt signaled the move may occur in response to the deaths of five Egyptian security troops by Israeli forces during the shootout with terrorists in the Eilat area last Thursday.

Amr added that having an ambassador in Jerusalem is “useful” as was seen in recent days, expediting the transfer of reliable information back and forth.

  1. This will be used by the Glenn Beck types to bash Obama’s handling of the Egyptian Revolution. Don’t fall for it. The toppling of Mubarak was a great move forward for the Arab world, and Obama showed true leadership by engineering this great achievment for mankind.

  2. Proud Liberal I know u can’t be that synical and I would hope your playing Devil’s advocate.
To play along with you it doesn’t matter who is office Hashem Yisbaruch is in control and playing the cards so to speak. This is signal we have to be better at learning, davening and emunah.
However on a practical level Obama is bad his whole administration is bad, and the whole Democratic party is bad
