David Weprin, Democratic candidate for Congress in New York’s Ninth Congressional District, today announced the endorsement of Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. Gillibrand cited Weprin’s commitment to protecting Medicare and Social Security and supporting middle class families as key factors in her endorsement.
“David Weprin is the right choice for voters because he will fight to protect Medicare and Social Security and work to get our economy back on track,” Senator Gillibrand said. “David understands that the key to protecting the middle class is to fight against the Republican efforts to privatize Medicare and Social Security. I’m proud to endorse David Weprin and I look forward to working with him on behalf of the working families and seniors who call Brooklyn and Queens home.”
Gillibrand is the latest in a string of endorsements for Weprin that also includes Senator Charles Schumer, New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, Congressman Joe Crowley, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, the Uniformed Fire Officers Association, Uniformed Firefighters Association and a host of other elected officials and organizations.
“I am honored to receive the support of Senator Gillibrand in my candidacy to represent the people of the Ninth Congressional District in Congress,” Weprin said. “Senator Gillibrand is one of our nation’s most hardworking and effective senators, and I look forward to working together to support middle class families and to protect Social Security and Medicare.”

“Democratic ex-mayor endorses Republican candidate – news”
Actually given that Koch has born a grudge against the Weprin family for almost 30 years, the real news would have been him doing tshuvah and getting over his resentment.
BTW, Republican City Councilman Peter Koo just endorsed Weprin. That is the biggest news of all.

Has anyone even heard of Peter Koo? How many people will vote for a candidate based upon a councilman’s recommendation? I for one won’t, let alone a no name politician. His endorsement and $2.25 will help get Werpin on a subway.
