A 17-year-old talmid yeshiva was detained by authorities after shouting “Chardak” at a frum soldier in Bnei Brak. The term is a derogatory one used against chareidim serving in the IDF. Police and municipal inspectors arrested the youth in question as the military is cracking down on verbal and physical attacks against chareidi soldiers by members of their own community.
The incident occurred on Sunday 3 Teves near Batei Warsaw in the Torah city.
Police report that the victim of the verbal assault is a former frum IDF soldier.

Why is a yeshiva blchur shouting anything at a soldier. Let him keep his mouth shut.
These incidents keep recurring because the authorities seem unwilling or unable to impose harsh punishments on those who harass or physically assault the men and women of the IDF who provide security to ALL Israelis, including chareidi. When punishment is imposed, its like a slap on the hand with little, if any, deterrent value. In an ideal world, it would be possible to selectively remove security for those who denigrate those who risk their lives to provide security. Sadly, however, you cannot leave those families who clearly have no value for the IDF exposed to the terrorists while not risking all members of a community.
Looks like a crowd not just one Bochur…
All we hear about the resolution in the UN against Israel is that Israel is the only democratic country in the Middle East and yet America blind sided them. After reading stories like this you begin to wonder how democratic it really is.
The victim of the verbal abuse was formerly a soldier, or formerly frum?
Good for him. Let him rest a bit behind the bars and contemplate the dinim of הלבנת פנים and הוצאת שם רע.
let him sit a few months in jail to cool off and maybe he will see that there are many kinds of good yidden in the world including those who go into the IDF….
Lock him up. Then draft him.
Frum!?-n-Fair!? Why is a 17 yr old boy being detained by authorities for saying only a single word?
Frum and not Fair
If you saw your world crumbling you’d be shouting too
He should be expelled from his yeshiva. If as a result he’ll be conscripted, let it be. He’ll be disciplined that way. If the hanholo of his yeshiva has “rachmonus” and keep him on, they’ll encourage this type of behaviour.
Lock him up. This is the cause of tremendous chillul hashem on a daily basis, turning hundreds of thousands of chillonim away from any association with torah and yahadus. I see it every day, and it needs to stop. Now.
#1 and you call yourself “frum”. You know what the roshei teivos for “frum” is…
#1 You should keep your mouth shut if you don’t know the truth and start learning hilchos loshon hora.
This report is from Mainstream Fake News who always say the truth and only the truth.
For those who care to know the truth: A secular soldier went to provoke the Bnei Brak residents, dressed up like a chareidi soldier and walked the streets in Bnei Brak waiting for action. A bachur went over to him and quietly asked him what he’s doing there? Suddenly police who were into this incitement and waiting there jumped on this bachur and grabbed him into their car.
The fact that this bachur was immediately released proves the lies of Fake News stories.
What is the point in reporting these incidents? Years ago, before the govt. tried to actively lure yeshiva boys into the army, this sort of thing didn’t occur, at least not on a regular on-going basis. In recent years, the govt. has a policy of trying to attract yeshiva boys to leave yeshiva. So, it’s natural that the community feels threatened, and tries to counter the govt.’s efforts by making these soldiers feel uncomfortable. I’m not saying it’s right, or that the rabbonim condone it. It’s a natural reaction by a community that feels threatened. The owners of YWN based in the U.S. will not succeed in changing the chareidi community’s feeling of being threatened. For sure not with negatively-tinged articles like these, that invite even more intemperate comments from some readers. It’s just pouring more oil on the fire. Nothing good will come from it. Why not give it a rest?
To No. 14
You are the best evidence of how the Trumpkops (and his chevrah in EY) create their own “alternative reality” by labeling anything from mainstream media as false and then constructing their own “facts” to support a bizarre explanation of what actually happened. You cannot accept the reality that there are a hard core fringe of Chareidim, who constitute a very small percentage of the tzibur that act like animals and must be treated like animals. There are similar zealots in the secular tzibur who also warrant the same treatment if they behave in similar ways. There is no reputable rav among any of the Sehphardeshe or Ashkenazic leaders of the various Chareidi segments who endorse engaging in this type of verbal or physical assault and any who do deserve to be punished even more severly than their followers.
All of the clever commenters who recommend drafting this guy and others “forcibly” don’t know the first thing about army life. As a rule, no one can be forced to be a soldier. The ridiculous notion of using army service as some form of punishment or to discipline young men is totally absurd. The fact is the IDF along with every other army in the world (except perhaps the Russian Czars who drafted the cantonists ….) does not call and cannot afford to call for such measures. While military service can serve to discipline a person, it’s only when this person otherwise agrees to serve. If he doesn’t, he will end up being discharged because retaining him destroys disciple in the rest of his unit. As long as the army bothers the yeshiva bochurim, these sort of incidents will probably continue. Want them to stop? Stop trying to lure yeshiva boys to leave their yeshiva.
