Today, Wednesday, September 10th Councilman Greenfield will host his fifth annual “Greenfield Classic.” The softball game, which is fast-becoming an end of summer community tradition, is played between the Boro Park Shomrim and officers from the NYPD’s 66th precinct. The two teams face off in a friendly game to celebrate another year of working successfully together to tackle public safety issues in the community.

Councilman Greenfield is proud to host the game each year and welcomes members of the community to come to the free event and cheer on their favorite team at the baseball field at 20th Avenue between 53rd and 54th Street.

This year will be the tie breaker between the NYPD and Shomrim on who holds the title for most wins. Of the four previous years the NYPD and Shomrim both won two games. Each year community members come out to the game to cheer on both teams and this year promises to be another fun filled event. Complimentary snacks and beverages will be available to the first 100 hundred people who attend.

“There is no better way to celebrate the end of summer than at a community softball game cheering our own ‘hometown heroes,’ the Shomrim and 66th Precinct,” said Councilman Greenfield. “Bring the kids out tonight to cheer on the people who work so hard to keep our community safe throughout the year.”

The game will start at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, September 10th at the baseball field at 20th Avenue between 53rd and 54th Street. Entrance to the field is outside of P.S. 121 on 20th Avenue. Please call the office of Councilman Greenfield at 718-853-2704 with any questions.
