OOPS: Israeli Official Fooled By Fake Tweet From ‘North Korean FM’ Calling Netanyahu a “Stinking Zionist”

North Korean Forreign Minister Ri Yong-Ho and Prime Minister Netanyahu

There is much fanfare surrounding the upcoming summit between Kim Jong and US President Donald Trump. In the meantime, a person pretending to be North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-Ho blasted Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on twitter. An Israeli official responded to the message, believing the tweet from the unverified account bearing the foreign minister’s name was actually him.

The message follows Mr. Netanyahu’s video message to the Iranian people, offering to assist with that nation’s water crisis.

“Stinking Zionist Netanyahu offer water to Iran; he’s criminal/liar so wouldn’t deliver. Meanwhile he can’t be bothered giving water to Gaza; he kills them instead,” read the twitter message.

Twitter has since disabled the fake account.

Israel Foreign Ministry Spokesman Emmanuel Nachshon replied to the tweet, saying: “On the bright side you are following us on Twitter and react. On the negative side—you insult us with no reason. Israel is a peace seeking nation, defending itself against a brutal and hate filled Iranian regime seeking our destruction.”

Asked why it chose to respond to the criticism, apparently without having first tried to establish whether the account was genuine, the Foreign Ministry declined to comment.

As PM Netanyahu stated would be the case, the video addressing the people of Iran was posted to Facebook, and it contained Farsi subtitles.
