Shock and disgust can best describe the feeling when the announcement was made on Monday morning, 8 Iyar, that the matzeivah of Maran HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman ZT”L was found desecrated R”L.
Mispallalim who arrived at the nearby kever of HaRav Yehuda Ze’ev Lebovitz ZT”L saw the damage to the kever of Maran.
The damage consisted of hateful slogans and “Pashkavilim”. The stunned mispallalim immediately began to clean the matzeivah, and quickly restored it to its befitting dignity.
The disgraceful act was reported to the Dan Region Police and an investigation was opened to clarify the circumstances. In addition, security cameras are being installed by the cemetery administration.

We might R”L be hearing of more tragedies from those who perpetrated this bizayon. Bizayon Talmid Chochom is a very serious matter. We saw already what happened to the children of those apikorsim in Bet Shemesh who were mevaze Rav Shteinman zt”l after his petirah.
It’s sad to see that we don’t learn from history that these type of acts is what caused the Bais Hamikdosh to be be destroyed.

Prison time should be enforced for anyone desecrating a grave. A minimum of 10 years sounds more like it.
it is a shame that such extremist hoodlums are accepted in the religious world. We should see the religious newspapers pointing out that damaging property is a sin and a crime.
Especially the kever of Maran Shteineman Z”l, who was such a peace loving and peace promoting person!
This is beyond horrible,and one has to hope that those that did it will be stopped from doing such terrible acts.
