After both Russia and Syria blamed Israel for an attack against a Syrian air base near Homs on Monday, 24 Nissan, the Russian Foreign Ministry has summoned Israeli Ambassador to Russia Gary Koren for a meeting with the Deputy Russian Foreign Minister. The media has since reported the United States was given a heads-up, informed of the attack before it occurred, and Moscow is questioning why it was kept in the dark.
According to a Yediot Achronot report, the Russian government summoned Israel’s Ambassador to Russia, Gary Koren, amid a diplomatic dustup after Kremlin officials criticized Israel for not giving them prior notice of a planned strike on a Syrian airbase reportedly housing Iranian drone aircraft. Despite the report, the ambassador’s staff is not commenting on the integrity of the report.
At least fourteen people were reportedly killed in the aerial strike near Homs. Israel remains silent, not commenting despite America attributing the attack to Israel.
US media reports add the Syrian use of chemical weapons against civilians has been discussed by President Donald Trump, who is quoted responding the Syrians will pay a big price for their actions, adding his decision as to the response will be made ‘Very quickly”.
