Israel’s High Court of Justice has given it approval for the immediate destruction of structures in an illegal PA (Palestinian Authority) outpost, known as Nawajah. The court sided with the state after learning the three structures in question were built after the court issued an injunction barring continued construction.
The Regavim organization has been fighting this particular battle for a number of years, citing the outpost and many others like it, are constructed with European Union funding.
The Arab residents ignored the 2014 court injunction and continued building and now, the Civil Administration plans to demolish the illegal structures. The Arabs however tried to have the site legalized, to add it to the village of Yata.
The Civil Administration rejected the Yata plan, explaining it was kilometers away from the site.
There are 14 structures in addition to those approved for demolition, and Regavim is working to have the entire outpost removed. The court gave the order, permitting the immediate razing of the illegal structures, angered over the “unprecedented” contempt for the High Court injunction prohibiting additional construction.
