On Sunday morning a large scale car accident took place on Menachem Begin Boulevard in Tevaria between a truck and six private cars. The truck driver allegedly lost control of his truck and ploughed into six cars. United Hatzalah volunteers and Magen David Adom personnel responded to the accident that saw two people who were moderately injured and two people who were lightly injured.
Doron Komish from United Hatzalah’s ambucycle unit said: “When I arrived at the scene of the accident I saw a semi-trailer whose back half had flipped over and hit numerous private vehicles. Together with other EMS volunteers I provided first aid treatment to 8 injured people at the scene. The Fire and Rescue Brigade worked to evacuate the injured from the vehicles prior to our treating them.
The Fire and Rescue Spokesperson said: “Four teas fo Fire and Rescue workers under the command of Lahav Alex Brenner, were sent to extricate those trapped in their vehicles following the accident near the entrance to Tevaria at the Shikunim Junction. One of the drivers apparently lost control of his vehicle due to an unknown reason. Eight vehicles were involved in the accident including one vehicle that was carrying livestock that had flipped over.”
Police said that they have detained the truck driver for questioning while their investigation is undergoing. Highway 77 near Tevaria was closed to traffic as a result of the accident for a few hours.
