It was a special session of the Shas Moetzas Gedolei Torah on Wednesday evening, the eve of 8 Tishrei. Seated at the table with council leader HaGaon HaRav Shalom Cohen Shlita was HaGaon HaRav Meir Mazuz Shlita, Rosh Yeshivas Kisei Rachamim. Also present were Jerusalem Sephardi Chief Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar Shlita and HaGaon HaRav Reuven Elbaz Shlita.

This represents the first time the rabbonim were seated together following differences surrounding elections to Knesset. The meeting is the result of efforts by R’ Eyal Moshiach, who worked hard to create ‘Sephardi shalom’, which includes bringing Rav Amar to the meeting with Rav Cohen.

The meeting signals a major success for the Shas party accompanied with hope for a more united front in the next elections for Knesset.
