On Sunday, just a few short hours before the Holocaust Memorial Day ceremony in Kiryat Shmona, one of the torch-lighters, 95-year-old survivor Zusha Gutman z”l was niftar. The niftar appeared on posters advertising the event as he was to light the torch marking the beginning of Holocaust Memorial Day in the northern city.
Kiryat Shmona Nissim Malka stated “The six memorial lights lit in the city last night are also in memory of Zusha, and we remember his heroism and strength. How symbolic that we part from him this evening, on Holocaust Memorial Day.”
