Fire Destroys Building At Nitra Yeshiva In Mount Kisco, NY – No Injuries Reported [VIDEOS AND PHOTOS]


nitraA massive fire destroyed a building at the Nitra Yeshiva on Friday night, but Boruch Hashem, there were no injuries reported.

The fire first broke out at the Yeshiva of Nitra located on Yeshiva Road around 6:30 p.m. Friday.

More than 100 firefighters from numerous departments in the area responded. There were about 20 fire departments and EMS agencies that either responded to the scene or stood by in Mount Kisco to help cover the village.

Everyone appeared to have evacuated by the time firefighters arrived and found flames on both floors, Mount Kisco Fire Chief Al Bueti said.

It took firefighters until around midnight to have the fire fully extinguished.

They returned to the scene early Shabbos morning to pockets of fire that had been flaring up.

The building is located a atop a fairly steep hill, and the nearest water source is about a half-mile away. Firefighters had to use tanker shuttles to bring water to the scene.

News12 reported that the building was being used as classrooms. No one was in the building when the fire broke out, and no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Bueti said, but is not considered suspicious.
