HaGaon HaRav Meir Mazuz Shlita, Rosh Yeshivas Kisei Rachamim has come out opposed to the protests seen around Israel last week by talmidim from the Peleg Yerushalmi branch.

Speaking on motzei Shabbos, Rav Mazuz stated it is his belief that HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach Shlita did not intend for his followers to take part in protests the like of which were seen around the country last week. “All types of chareidim take part in hafganos and then police come and take them, all due to one person who did not report to the IDF. One must learn that which is achieved with force and be achieved ten times easier without force, with wisdom, calmly and prudently”.

“They say Rav Auerbach has sent them but he did not send them to these kinds of protests in which trash bins are set afire and they shout. It appears on the news. The see us as different. We mustn’t do this. Everything can be achieved with wisdom, calm and acting prudently” the rav added.

Rabbi Mazuz added the current system must be modified as he learned girls seeking to get out of the draft must have a form signed by a dayan who must sign for at least 200 girls together. He explains this is a fragment of the Lapid regulations that has to be eliminated and the girls who are Shomer Shabbos must be left alone.
