In the following video, we once again see an Orthodox Jew who follows piskei Halacha permitting one to visit certain areas of Har Habayis with the proper preparations.
In this case, he prostrates himself on the ground and says Shema Yisrael in front of police, knowing full well he will be taken into custody.
It must be noted: According to the Poskei Hador one is absolutely forbidden to visit Har Habayis, and there is an Isur Karess for one that goes there.
A number of years ago on Sukkos, President Shimon Peres paid a visit to the Sukkah of Maran HaGaon Rav Elyashiv ZATZAL, where Rav Elyashiv called on the President to prevent Jews from visiting Har Habayis, stating it is an act that that is viewed as extremely provocative by the goyim. Maran stated everything possible must be done to avoid a religious war, and the provocateurs are playing with fire.
Maran is quoted as explaining to the president that Halacha forbids going onto Har Habayis but today, it is more than this, it is an act that may lead to a religious war and bloodshed.
This is and remains the view of poskei hador. This is also the view of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. Among the rabbonim who share this view are HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Halevy Wosner ZATZAL, HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein Shlita, Maran HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita, Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L, Maran HaGaon HaRav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv ZT”L and many others.

rodef! these people fail to take into account that in addition to the danger they put themselves into and the issurim they are incurring, they are putting the entire jewish world into danger. the arabs do not differentiate – they have attacked jews all over the world due to this type of provocation. before doing such things one needs to very seriously consider the consequences which he will be responsible for.

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN ISRAEL???
yeah, right. And how then did the Ramban daven on Har haBayit? There is no problem for Tamei met going to machane leviya, provided they dunk in a Mikva and don’t wear leather shoes. We know pretty well where the forbidden area is on the Temple Mount. It is relatively small in comparison with the rest of the Mount, which is where the frum Jews go. If fact there is a Mitzvah of ascending the Mount and seeing the place of the miqdash.
#1 Arabs don’t need an excuse to attack. Are you saying the attacksin the mosque in Canada, in Belgium, England and where not? was because some Jews prayed on the Har Habayis? Stop your galus mentality and naivety. An Arab is an Arab, a pere-adam, and will always stay this way no matter what Jews do or don’t do.
I dont need the “posek haDor” to know that we should be sympathetic to this individual and do what we can to get him or her treatment.
#3: We can all tell from your tone and your lomdus that you are in the same league as the gedolei hador, so we thank you for providing a counterpoint to the opinions of the chazon ish, the steipler, rav chaim, rav aharon yehuda leib…
When are your hours for giving brochos?
To Elazar Volk and Arye,
1) The Halacha goes according to Rov Poskim. Rov Poskim say it is Assur to go up to Har Habayis.
2) Any story of someone davening on Har Habayis that comes from before the Turks built the walls that currently surround what we call the Old City is irrelevant. There is no way to accurately determine what they meant by Har Habayis or exactly where they went.
3) Yes, there is a mitzvah to go on Har Habayis. Please wait for Rov Poskim who are alive today to tell us it is permissible B’zman Hazeh before you go there.
no 3 there is a mitzvah to listen to P’sak din and . and you “saw” where the Rambam stood on the har habayis !!
Did I miss something?
First it says “In the following video, we once again see an Orthodox Jew who follows piskei Halacha permitting one to visit certain areas of Har Habayis with the proper preparations.”
Then it says “It must be noted: According to the Poskei Hador one is absolutely forbidden to visit Har Habayis, and there is an Isur Karess for one that goes there.”
Can anyone enlighten me? Was the first paragraph just for the people who see it on the main site and don’t read the extended article to give a certain impression? (That still would not explain the contradiction though.)
Is what the poskei hador say, different than piskei halacha chalila?!
I think Rov Poskim told the Yiden of Europe in the 1930’s and ’40’s not to go to America, the treifa land.
If you ask the same shailoh to 10 poskim, you may get 10 or more different answers and they may all be correct.
#11, I was trying to figure out how TYW can say as a matter of fact that he was following PISKEI HALACHA and then say that blanketly that the POSKEI HADOR SAY that one is absolutely forbidden to visit Har Habayis, and there is an Isur Karess for one that goes there. It seems contradictory.
EVEN IF they were taking one side in a debate among the poskim (if it is a debate among real poskim) and that’s why they initially wrote that he was following piskei halacha (which is obviously not their place to do so), wouldn’t they say after that “it’s important to note that THERE ARE THOSE THAT SAY that one is absolutely forbidden to visit Har Habayis, and there is an Isur Karess for one that goes there”? What they do say is that the poskei hador say that it is forbidden, which sounds like it is not a debate among the real poskim (which I suspect is the truth as Eli Willner stated “chazon ish, the steipler, rav chaim, rav aharon yehuda leib…” although I am not familiar with the topic myself).
Still waiting for a satisfactory response…
