In a rare move, HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita has sent a letter to elected officials to assist talmidei torah, which are in a most difficult financial situation.
Representatives of the talmidei torah from around the country met in the rav’s home and the rav was presented with a bleak picture, one of many mosdos on the verge of financial collapse. The rav signed on the letter, which is written to MKs of Yahadut Hatorah, asking them to assist in whatever capacity they can. The letter mentions Moshe Gafne and Meir Porush by name.

“באו אליי מנהלי הת”תים וזעקו בכאב כי הם מתקשים לקיים את המוסדות וכי הדרך היחידה להימנע מלעלות את גובה שכר הלימוד שיוטל על ההורים היא להוסיף להם עוד תקציבים שנלקחו מהם במרוצת השנים”.

Surely the Zionists can help the foundation of Yahadus which protects all Yidden, each f-35 costs $100 million how many yeshivas can be helped with this money, when chareidim will control the budget and we elect more of our people to the Knesset things will be better.
Its one thing for the Chareidi MKs to argue for exemption for their yungerleit from having to serve in the IDF but it is really bizarre for them to go further and try to divert funds from the already streched military budgets to bail out some yeshivos or mosdos. If these MK are asking the secular population to take on the additional burdens of military service that their own young men and women are unwilling to assume, it is real chutzpah to demand additional taxpayer subsidies.
