Some Givati Brigade Soldiers Are Unwilling To Evict Amona Residents

1The IDF was setting up in the area of Ofra, reportedly for the eviction of residents from Amona. This took place on motzei Shabbos. There were reports that soldiers were compelled to be mechalel Shabbos for this but military rabbonim insist those reports are not based in fact.

What is more troubling to the IDF is the fact that some soldiers from the Givati Brigade left their weapons and the outpost and headed for a bus stop, as they are unwilling to play a role in removing Jews from their homes. The unit’s battalion commander met with his soldiers, all seasoned excellent soldiers from the Tzabar unit which received a commendation from the IDF Chief of Staff for their work in Hebron about a year ago.

These soldiers were being set into place to block others from coming to join the resistance in Amona, not to actually remove residents, but the soldiers explained they would not play any role in removing Jews from their homes.

  1. All the parties involved are entitled to express their strongly-held beliefs but ultimately must comply with the law. There is a lawful order that has been reviewed by the appellate courts and affirmed that this illegal settlement must be removed. There are more than sufficient numbers of security forces to carry out the court order even if some may have personal reservations about the matter. They can ignore their orders but in a military unit, there could be consequences.

  2. The world is upside down. Let us Jews have our Jewish land. Everyone is LAUGHING at us!
Just in time for Chanukkah, you act like the Syrian-Greeks of old. We need another miracle, please Hashem! Save!
