It was reported on Thursday morning 15 Kislev that about 1,000-1,500 youths made their way to Amona during the night despite unseasonably cold conditions. As soon as the word spread that residents of Amona were rejecting the deal worked out by Bayit Yehudi, it was clear to many that forced eviction is back on the agenda for the coming days.
Among those present is former MK Dr. Michael Ben-Ari, a follower of Rabbi Meir Kahane HY”D. Ben-Ari spoke with Kol Berama Radio on Thursday morning, explaining “The residents were correct to reject the officer which simply represents death by firing squad instead of hanging”.
Ben-Ari feels that the residents of Amona understand the deal was nothing but “empty promises which left them empty-handed, without new homes and without a future…Eretz Yisrael is not real estate and we are here because the land is ours and ours alone, no one else. One must understand this. Public officials are pragmatic but this is never uttered by them, that the land belongs exclusively to the Jewish People and no one else and it must be said”.
Ben-Ari feels the residents understand the deal is nothing but “empty promises”, adding “Ofra is Eretz Avos, Gideon… People are still living in caravillas from Gush Katif. We have learned a lesson. There is something about standing on one’s principles, even if it is taken away by force, but standing on that which one believes instead of compromising…Look what occurred in Migron and the Ulpana area of Beit El. Netanya and the exact same plan as [former Likud MK Tzipi] Livni [of Machane Tzioni]. He wants to create a State of Palestine between Shechem and Ramallah and this is his master plan, which he no longer hides. Let the world see that an entire yishuv is being uprooted by a so-called right-wing government . let is see the reality as it is and not try to claim there is a difference between Netanyahu and Livni”.
Ben-Ari stresses his opposition to violence, but will take part in civil disobedience as he did in Yamit when he was a teenager. He proudly added his children were educated correctly and on their way to Amona to join in as the interview is taking place.
