The accident that brought Thursday evening rush hour to a halt on Bar Ilan Street near the intersection of Shaul HaMelech (Sanhedria) involved two buses with at least one the elongated accordion, a minibus and private vehicles. The accompanying photos and videos show the seriousness of the collision, which tragically left a woman dead. According to Magen David Adom, several other people were injured.
MDA dispatch reports the call came in at 16:48 on Thursday. One person was originally listed in critical condition, trapped inside a vehicle.
A crane had to be brought in to lift the bus off the vehicle. After two hours a woman was removed and R”L pronounced dead.
Three others are in light condition – all transported to Shaare Zedek Hospital. All are listed in light condition. It appears five other victims are being transported to Hadassah Mt. Scopus Hospital, also with non-serious injuries.
MDA paramedic Refael Herbst explains two buses and a number of other vehicles were involved. To the best of his knowledge eight persons were transported from the scene.
United Hatzalah EMT Shlomi Borstein reports he ‘happened onto the scene’ and reported it in, calling for additional units. He explains that while conducting a preliminary evaluation of the scene, he saw a number of persons with light injuries. He added he saw the seriously injured person trapped in a vehicle but he had no access to that victim.
