In his remarks made on Thursday, 8 Kislev during a session of the Knesset Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee, Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman spoke of the “legal war of attrition” being faced by Israel, citing the defense establishment is addressing no less than 260 High Court petitions of which 110 are against Jewish communities and the remainder filed by Palestinians against Israel.

He explained this unwanted reality harms the operations of the Defense Ministry, which lacks the manpower and resources to handle the onslaught of legal petitions.

He feels the there must be a dialogue with the High Court for the way it things are operating today, anyone can file a petition and reach the High Court. Lieberman is aware many or most of the petitions are intended to overwhelm the Defense Ministry and it is working.

Regarding Syria, he told members of the high-level committee that Israel continues monitoring events in Syria including the ongoing civil war while remaining uninterested in becoming involved in any way.
