Reports of hate crimes have spiked in New York City and the city’s mayor says he believes heated rhetoric by President-elect Donald Trump is a factor.
At a news conference Monday, Mayor Bill de Blasio spoke about allegations that an off-duty Muslim police officer was threatened by a man who told her to “go back to her country.”
Asked if he thought Trump was to blame for an increase in similar incidents, the mayor said “It’s obviously more complicated than that. It is not linear.”
But he accused Trump of using “hate speech” and saying “horrible things” about Muslims.
Police in New York have logged 43 possible hate crimes since Trump’s election, double the number during the same period last year.
Trump has denied that his proposals on immigration and restrictions on Muslims entering the U.S. amounted to hate speech.

What he fails to mention is that hate crimes have been up generally since obama took office.
This is actually entertaining. There is widely recognized “junk science”. Well there is also “idiot statistics”. For those who don’t get it on their own, here is a short course on statistics. One cannot infer causality from correlational information. Example: it was found that 98.4 percent of all people who die in America have eaten pickles. Can one conclude that pickles have something dangerous in them? That absurdity is lost on those whose conclusions have been drawn who then look for a number that would make the oilem goilem believe it. Maybe it is significant that there have been statistically more hate crimes per month since DeBlasio took office than when Guiliani was in office for the same period. These numbers do not infer causality, except to those who buy into whatever numbers you believe will sell your message.
The inference is that Trump is somehow responsible, and that is nothing more than the Democrat typical anti-Trump ranting that will strip the Democratic Party soon of anyone with a respectable IQ. Please, there has got to be something more intelligent in positions of authority and leadership. DeBlasio has proven to be a total disgrace. I wish him a speedy retirement.
if you want to blame trump for hate crimes go ahead. reality is trump never made any hate statements. all he did was say it how it is regarding certain issues. that blunt straight forward talk resonated with a lot of people and brought out a lot of peoples true feelings chiefly among them is that were scared to death of all the muslims in this country and were tired of all the political correctness
