Two Versions Of The Regulation Law To Be Voted On In Knesset On Wednesday

1The Regulation Bill, which is intended to legalize Amona and other outposts in Yehuda and Shomron, is scheduled for its preliminary Knesset vote on Wednesday, 29 Cheshvan. Coalition Chairman David Bitan announced two versions of the bill will be voted upon. MK (Bayit Yehudi) Nissim Slomiansky conferred with Bitan and the decision was made to vote on two versions, with and without clauses seven and ten, which address Amona and the courts.

Slomiansky feels that if the Knesset approves the bills in the preliminary votes, they can then prepare it for final readings, which will include which draft to use in the final version.

At present, there is opposition to the bills within the coalition and no one can say with absolute certainty the bills will pass.

The Regulation Bill would circumvent a High Court ruling which compels the removal of residents and dismantling of Amona by December 25, 2016. Some experts, including Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit are opposed to the bill, explaining it may create more legal problems than it solves.
