Following the historic visit of HaGaon HaRav Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita at the chasenah of a grandson of the Gerre Rebbe Shlita, the rebbe traveled to Bnei Brak to visit with the Rosh Yeshiva.

It is reported that few knew of the planned visit in advance fearing too many would flock to Maran’s home to get a glimpse of the event. Chassidim were told the rebbe was heading to a chasenah and on the way from Yerushalayim the rebbe was moved to a second vehicle and when they arrived at Chazon Ish Street, they used a rear entrance.

The visit lasted for 12 minutes. The rebbe told Rav Shteinman we must daven for rachamim for Am Yisrael, more so than in previous years. Towards the end of the visit the rebbe asked to receive a bracha as he gave on to Rav Shteinman.

As the Gerre Rebbe got up to leave, Rav Shteinman stood to escort him but the Rebbe requested that he remain. However, Rav Shteinman did so, until the Rebbe was out of the apartment. As they walked they recalled the days they would travel together to give a chizuk to Olam HaTorah.
