As security forces were winding up an operation in the Jerusalem district near the Shuafat refugee camp during the night of 2 Elul (Sunday night to Monday), they were targeted in an attempted vehicular terror attack.
Police and border police were winding down an operation and as they were leaving the area, a vehicle got closer to them and then began speeding towards them in apparent effort to run them down.
Soldiers acted appropriately and implemented the correct protocol when they fired at the advancing vehicle since the driver ignored shouts to halt as well as ignoring warning shots.
One terrorist, Mustafa Namar (see photo) was shot and gravely wounded, dying a short time later. A second terrorist, 25, remains in Hadassah Mt. Scopus Hospital where his condition was described as light-to-moderate on Monday morning, recuperating from gunshot wounds.
