Rosh Yeshivas Kol Yaakov HaGaon HaRav Yehuda Adas Shlita on Tuesday, 10 Teves, spoke with his talmidim following shachris on the fast day. Rav Adas addressed the controversy regarding the amended draft law, explaining to his talmidim “HaGaon HaRav Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita has instructed his talmidim how to act, selecting the lesser of the evils available at present – to report to IDF induction centers for the first draft notice.
The schmooze came hours ahead of the rally in Yerushalayim sponsored by the Eida Chareidis and HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach Shlita, who oppose reporting to the draft centers, instructing talmidim not to cooperate with the IDF in any way whatsoever.
Prior to the rally, notices were posted in Yeshivas Mir instructing talmidim not to attend.
“I have no doubt that Rav Shteinman the Rosh Yeshiva views the draft law as a spiritual Holocaust on Am Yisrael but he selected the lesser of the evils as persons in government remain in touch with him for a number of years and he saw the direction the process was going and how they wish to uproot yeshivos entirely. Therefore, he selected the lesser of the evils available” explained Rav Adas.
“Nevertheless he is pained to the core over the draft” added Rav Adas, telling the talmidim “What we learn in two weeks he learns in a day and what we eat daily he eats over two weeks”.

why don’t we listen to what MK Rav Gafni says about the law? he is the one is in constant contact with the Moetzes [all 3 for that matter] and they are the ones who sent him to get the law passed! let us keep in mind that the Chavrei haMoetzes shlit”a are the Roshei Yeshiva and Admorim of the clear majority of Klal Yisroel and are working together on this complex issue since it came to the forefront a few years back.

this is something the Rosh Yeshiva asked him to publicize? I thought that Degel was told to keep mum about this law so as not to agitate Lapid and also not produce material for Yesh Atid to present to the Supreme Court in their current appeal to the Bagatz against this law.
Instructs “his talmidim”? That sounds like the one thousand bochurim in his Yeshiva[Orchos Torah], however this is actually the psak of the Vaad Hayeshivos and applies to all 10,000 malshabim [draft eligible] whether they are Litvish, Sefardi or Chassidish.
Can someone explain what is meant by the lesser of two evils? It seems that one evil, the lesser, is reporting. What is the other, greater, evil? Is the point that not reporting is the greater evil? Why would that be?
Obamas policy was that he selected the lesser of the evils with the Iran deal. I guess he was right after all
