Rechovot Mayor Mr. Rachamim Malul released a pamphlet last week addressing the current security crisis, in which he prohibits permitting Arabs into kindergartens. The same message was released by Hod HaSharon City Hall, which called to cut back entry permits into schools.

While the Rechovot alert is more specific, the Hod HaSharon one refers to “maintenance and cleaning personnel” working in schools.

A member of the Rechovot City Council turned to the city’s attorney to address the racist regulation, stating if maintenance personnel are prohibited it must include Arabs and others alike. The councilwoman rejects the singling out of any sector in such a directive. She explains “I am not in favor of reducing security but feel the same must apply to everyone. I understand parents’ fears. I spoke with city officials and the city attorney and await their reply”.
