Baruch hashem he was found safe. In these perilous times, the need to have constant communications with family and security personnel dictates having at least a cell phone or PDA with you 24×7 as a simple matter of pikuach nefesh. You can safe your own life or those of others by immediately summoning help if under attack or reassuring family that you are safe if c’v an attack occurs. The rabbonim, shlita, should initiate a dialogue with respect to a blanket heter for yidden to carry such a communication device at all times and without regard to concerns over pritzus, Shabbos, yom tov, bitul torah etc. Sakanas nefesh should trump all these other critical concerns.
I guess that’s why you’re the Gadolhadorah.
