The 19-year-old Modi’in Illit resident arrested by military authorities on Wednesday was brought before a military court on Thursday evening the eve of 5 Tishrei, the erev Shabbos HaPeles reports. The bochur attends Yeshivas Merkaz HaTorah in Betar Illit.
According to the Yerushalmi faction-related HaPeles, the young man was sentenced to five days in IDF lock up for failing to report to an induction center. He is scheduled to be released on erev Yom Kippur.
HaPeles points out the bochur was complying with instructions of HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach Shlita, who has told talmidim not to cooperate with induction authorities in any way and not to report to induction centers at all. The report adds that as soon as the talmid’s arrest was made known, an attorney was brought into the picture and efforts in the political and public arenas were made to have him released as soon as possible.
Rabbonim and askanim are also in touch with the family, adding the parents are firmly behind their son, backing his adherence to the instructions of Rav Auerbach. At present, the young man is imprisoned in IDF Prison 6.

with instructions of HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach Shlita – So the Rabbi should pay a jail visit to his Talmid, even during this busy Selichos season..
If he listened to Rav Auerbach, he probably knew he was headed for jail because that is exactly what Rav Auerbach wants. HaPeles which is the group that left Yeted (or was kicked out by Rav Shteineman Shlita for being too extreme) like sensationalism.
It is so easy to get a ‘p’tur’ from the army and they wont bother the bochrim who give in their request for a ‘p’tur’. But Rav Auerbach is against doing even that.
