Six People Arrested for their Protest Against Deteriorating Security in Armon HaNatziv

mishPolice on Wednesday, 3 Tishrei, arrested six Israelis who were involved in a protest following the fatal rock-throwing attack in the Armon HaNatziv area of the capital on Rosh Hashanah. One of the persons arrests is a 61-year-old terror victim who organized the stormy protest to decry the deteriorating security situation in their area. The suspects were taken to a local police station and a Honenu attorney responded to defend the rights of the area residents. Three of the girls arrested are suspected of taking part in an unlawful gathering, a male in his 20s appears to be facing charges of interfering with police and for shouting “Mohammad is a pig”. The sixth suspect is suspected of interfering with a policeman.

Five of the six suspects were released during the night (Wednesday to Thursday) with the exception of one, who is the subject of an active court order.

Honenu attorney Rechavia Flitch states “It is strange that the very same police, which during a prolonged period of time during which there is violence from Tzur Bahar residents against Armon HaNatziv residents, is quick to arrest protesters taking part in a peaceful protest instead of acting against those responsible for the violence”.

Acts of Arab violence and terror have become so commonplace in some areas of the capital that a special Knesset session on the deteriorating security has been called.
