Family members of Avraham Mengistu, who is in Gaza, protested outside the Hadarim Prison in southern Israel as family members of imprisoned terrorists continue visiting their loved ones. The handed out flyers protesting the conditions given to terrorists in Israeli prisons while Avraham remains in Gaza, for over a year. Authorities only permitted 25 family members from taking part in the protest.
They distributed literature explaining that while Abera (Avraham) remains captive in Gaza, terrorists imprisoned in Israel are permitted to meet with their loved ones. They explain that the family has maintained a low profile until now, in compliance with requests and instructions from state officials, but they do not see this assisted in obtaining Avraham’s release.
State officials have reported that Mengistu has mental issues and crossed into Gaza willingly, citing he was not abducted. Behind-the-scenes involving a number of state agencies and officials have been ongoing with Hamas and emissaries seeking to assist in obtaining his release.
