Chief Rabbi of Ramat Gan Rabbi Yaakov Ariel Shlita, a leading posek in the dati leumi community, clarified why he is among those rabbonim opposed to the Giyur K’halacha beis din for giyur established by Rabbi Nachum Eliezer Rabinovitch.
Rabbi Ariel warns that this situation would lead to any ‘hedyot’ establishing a beis din. “This is very serious and dangerous as it opens a door to total chaos” he explained.
The question regarding the new beis din was posed to Rabbi Ariel, appearing on the “Yeshiva” website. The rav was asked to comment regarding the establishment of the new beis din for giyur, to which he replied he opposes it.
When asked to explain, Rabbi Ariel stated this would lead to others opening batei din, including those headed by people who are foreign to halacha. He feels this will be the result of compromising the exclusive position of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, warning against such a reality.
Rabbi Ariel adds “Tomorrow, a hedyot will establish a beis din for gittin and keddushin or kashrus. This opens a dangerous door to chaos” he stresses.

Isn’t the Halacha that any Hidiots are permitted to establish a beis din??
Actually, the hedyotim already control the government and have set up courts, which have decided that under zionist law, in matters of halacha the secular courts determine what is the interpretation of halacha applied to Eretz Yisrae. Many zionist rabbanim have been “in denial” about this, even though it happened almost 70 years ago.
