Vandals targeted a Jerusalem shul in an apparent hate attack on Thursday morning 7 Menachem Av.
The Pischei Olam Shul on King George Street was targeted as the Aron Kodesh and paroches were set ablaze. A swastika was also sprayed on the Aron Kodesh. There was property damage but B”H there are no reports of damage to Sifrei Torah.
It is also reported that “something strange” is taking place in the shul, which has many baalei teshuvah as one day recently, the Aron Kodesh was found open and on another day, a Sefer Torah was found on the ground R”L.
Police are investigating.

“It is also reported that “something strange” is taking place in the shul, which has many baalei teshuvah as one day recently…”
Of what news and relevance is the fact the shul is attended by baalei teshuva? “Something strange”? What exactly is YWN implying here? And seriously a day before Shabbos Chazzon? I read YWN daily and am disappointed by the utter lack of any journalistic integrity displayed in this short “story”. What a terrible thing to happen and to top it off with this just…
That swastika has one line too much
Meidel: I wouldn’t read too much into it, I think it’s just badly written.
This is just a hunch, but I think the swastika is actually initials form to look like swastika. Notice how the person purposely broke the line in the middle. Also, there is no “Z” in the middle of a swastika.
I think this is some kids initials. LCZ or something like that. This could be a clue to catch the vandal. At first I thought it was an Arab, but now I am inclined to say that it is probably a child of a frum family (possibly a shul member) that went off the derech and is lashing out.
Sad.
