HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita arrived at the Ma’aras HaMachpelah on Wednesday, 28 Tammuz, for the first time in decades. It is reported that his last visit was decades ago together with his father the Steipler Gaon ZT”L.
After davening neitz in Bnei Brak, Rav Kanievsky traveled to Yerushalayim to visit the kever of his father-in-law Maran HaGaon HaRav Sholom Elyashiv ZT”L, in Har Menuchos on the yahrzeit.
From there a small number of family members and aides accompanied Rav Chaim to the Old City, where he stood atop of Aish Hatorah. The Torah giant tore kriya and from there they traveled to Kever Rochel and then on to Hebron in a protected vehicular convoy.
The main atzeres for the yahrzeit of the late gadol hador, Rav Elyashiv, will take place at 19:30 in his beis medrash, the caravan on Admon Street in Meah Shearim. Buses to his kever began at 08:00 in the morning and will continue until 20:00.

To Yaapchik, gadol as big as R’ Chaim Kanievsky doesn’t do anything staam, so there must be a very big reason behind this.
