There is a major power outage impacting portions of the Washington metro area and utility company Pepco said it was investigating the situation.
Metro said rail service continued throughout the region, but at least 14 stations were operating on backup power due to the outage.
The U.S. State Department was among the locations that reported a loss of power. The power outage was also impacting downtown D.C. near 17th & Pennsylvania Avenue NW around the World Bank.
Reports state that power briefly went off in the White House.

887 out of nearly a million customers are out of power. That is NOT a “major” power outage.
