Elections for 20th Knesset are scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 26 Adar 5775.
According to the law those eligible to vote are entitled to transportation paid for by the government if they are or will be in a town farther than 20km (12 miles) from the jurisdiction of the town where they are registered to vote on the day of the elections and the day previous to the elections. Travel will take place through the public transportation system – the intercity bus lines and Israel Railways. The amount paid will be in accordance with the starting point and the destination as detailed on the ticket given to the voter.
The Central Election Committee will issue special tickets for transport for those voting for the 20th Knesset. A round trip ticket for public transportation or for Israel Railways will be available to the entitled voters in all post office branches across the country from 2/24/2015 until 3/16/2015 and will be given to the voter who presents either his/her identity card and its appendix (sefach) with a current address, or his/her driver’s license or the voter’s notification card that is delivered by mail.
For a simple and easy clarification of the place of your voting station, one can use the “voting booth locator“. Just type in your ID number and you will immediately receive the place of your station.
Additionally, you can send your ID number (9 numbers) in a SMS message to 052-9999555 and you will receive the place of your voting station in response.
On the day of the elections, tickets will also be distributed by the transportation companies at central bus and train stations. Tickets will also be distributed at regional election committee offices throughout the country. The address of the committees and the times of the distribution will be listed on the website
Those travelling by public bus will give the driver their travel voucher for the relevant direction of travel in accordance with the valid dates as detailed below.
The voter travelling on Israel Railways will convert his/her voucher to a regular ticket at the cashiers of the train stations on Elections Day only. This ticket will allow return travel also on the day after elections. Those travelers who are eligible for discounts are requested to mention this at the time of the conversion to the train ticket.
The valid dates for the ticket are as follows: Going: The day before the election and on the day of the election (25-26/ Adar)
Returning: On the day of the elections and on the day afterwards (26-27 Adar)
Those eligible for transport from Eilat and back will receive special Egged tickets at the Egged cashiers. These tickets will allow travel the day before elections and return the day after elections. Travelers to or from Eilat must preregister with Egged – either by phone 03-6948888 or *2800 or on Egged’s website. Those travelers who are eligible for discounts are requested to mention this at the time of registration.
To travel from any bus station located between the Arava intersection and Eilat, one needs to get the voucher from a post office branch starting February 24, 2015 until March 16th 2015.
